The methodology will be replicated across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and will comprise:
- an extensive review of academic literature (law, transitional justice, anthropology, sociology, social psychology, history, political science etc.) and relevant primary and secondary sources
- 60-90 semi-structured interviews with victims, apologisers, policy makers and stakeholders
- 12 focus groups with victims (4 groups for each site of analysis: political violence, institutional abuse, economic crisis)
- A public survey of 1,000 respondents
- 14 focus groups from the general population
