Dr Anna Bryson and Dr Muiris MacCarthaigh presented their paper ‘Public Apologies, Accountability and Blame-acceptance’ at the 115th American Political Science Association’s Annual Meeting & Exhibition ‘Populism and Privilege’ (August 29 – September 1, 2019 Washington, DC). The paper was presented under the panel theme of ‘Campaigns and Crises in Ireland’ on 31 August 2019. The event was chaired by Professor Gail Mc Elroy from Trinity College Dublin. The panel scrutinised political crises in Ireland including the recession and Brexit; and the paper examined public apologies in the context of the banking crisis in Ireland. Following the presentations, the panel included a question and answer session allowing the audience to engage with the presenters and their respective research.
